About Katie’s Picture:
I love how just the look of a building tells you so much. When it was built, it’s function, or where it is. For example back home in California we don’t have a lot of brick buildings due to earthquakes. I’m not a big fan of pure functional architecture or even overly modern looking buildings. Things need to show character. Here in America we don’t really go back in history too far and we really miss out on the classic styles of Europe and Asia. They are so lucky! So I really love when there is a relatively old building somewhere that is preserved. This one is in downtown Salt Lake City. Thankfully this fun old building, once the railroad station, was converted to an entrance to a fancy outside mall and also made into a music club called the Depot where I have seen many a fabulous show. I’m so glad it was saved.
About Sadie’s Picture:
I don’t get to see much architecture. I don’t get to drive through downtown area, only industrial parks. I see one story warehouses and that is almost the extent of my architectural exposure. It’s pretty uninspiring. I was hopeful that maybe this week I’d find a cool building, but I didn’t, this was the most interesting building I saw, and was able to take a picture of, all week.
